Putting the pride back in Hyde

The Litter Hubs Project is now running across the Hyde area.

Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council’s (TMBC) Operations and Neighbourhoods Service have supplied equipment so individuals, local groups, big or small groups can go to their nearest Litter Hub and book out equipment .

Neighbourhood Engagement Officer, Tanuja Patel, has been working with TMBC and other partners across Hyde to have hub stations so volunteers can do litter picking. They can then ring the Neighbourhood Engagement Officer from TMBC directly, who will liaise with Depot to get rubbish removed.

There was a grand opening on Tuesday 17 September with New Charter tenants attending the presentation along with other partners, councillors, housing providers and community people.

Each litter pack will contain: a litter pick, a high vis jacket, a pair of gloves and a black bag.

The following Litter Hub instructions need to be read before a litter pick takes place:
•Find your nearest Litter Hub – Newton Hub will be a hub station in Hyde
•Once there, please read the risk assessment, date and sign it
•Give the basic information as requested to book the equipment out
•Liaise with the Litter Hub rep who will phone the Neighbourhood Engagement Officer to agree where to leave any black bags for collection

We hope to enable residents to have pride in their areas and improve community spirit.
