Succesful partnership paves the way for 114 affordable homes in Preston

Jigsaw Group has teamed up with Lane End Group that purchased the former Cottam Hall Brickworks site in Preston from BXB Cottam Properties Ltd, to deliver 114 much needed affordable homes.

Close partnership working between Jigsaw Group, Preston Council, Homes England and Lane End led to the developer starting on site at the Tom Benson Way development in March 2019 to build a mixture of 2 bedroom apartments and 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses.

The site, which comes with full planning permission, comprises approximately 3.45 hectares of previously developed land and is located five kilometres north west of Preston City Centre.

Joanne Bonnington, Assistant Director of Development at Jigsaw Homes Group, said: “We are delighted to have bought the site from Lane End and to be in contract with 114 much needed affordable homes for rent and shared ownership.

“This scheme was delivered through true partnership working with Lane End, Preston Council, Homes England and Savills. A big thank you to all our partners for making this scheme happen in just over 3 months.”

Richard Harrison, Lane End Group Managing Director, said: “This scheme will provide much needed residential housing in a strategically important site for Preston City Council.

“We’ve worked extremely hard on this development which we believe will benefit the local community. The brickworks have lay dormant since the 1960s and we look forward to breathing new life into the area with this development.

“We’re also delighted to be working once again with Jigsaw on this scheme. The Lane End Group has a longstanding relationship with Jigsaw and this news cements that even further.”
