New Gas cookers in the Tower Blocks

As part of the PFI refurbishments all tower blocks will be converted from electrical economy 7 heating to gas central heating. As part of this change all tower blocks and flats within will require full new gas installations and the disconnection of existing gas appliances, for example, gas cookers.
Due to new regulations all new gas cookers need to be fitted with a flame safety device (FSD) and Lovell cannot connect any NEW cooker that does not have the FDS fitted. If, however, you have an existing gas cooker that was disconnected by Lovell then they will refit it for you even if it does not have the safety device. The FDS regulation only applies to NEW cookers and old ones can be regarded as ‘not to current standards’. Please ensure when buying a new cooker that it is fitted with a flame safety device.
