Neighbourhood Links Launch Day
The event, which attracted over 150 people, was part of the Rochdale Canal Festival, a series of events aimed at engaging local people with the canal and it’s environment.
The main event on 11th July had water related attractions including a duck race on the canal, arts and crafts and fishing demonstrations. The event also played host to the Miles Platting heats of Street Sprint, a national competition to find Britain’s next top athlete, five a side and penalty shoot outs hosted by FC United, pamper sessions and Thai Chi, African food, face painting and much more.
The planning and running of the event was assisted by the Neighbourhood Links, a new initiative in Miles Platting to assist local people to have a positive impact on their environment and their community and local people held activities including a tombola, raffle, photography and a history walk along the canal.
