Halloween over 50’s Party

Within Adactus Housing’s role as Valuing Older People Co-ordinator for Miles Platting we try to offer a range of activities that promote the well being and reduce the social isolation of being over 50 in this area. In addition to the walking club, trips away and the photography course we all like to have a good old party sometimes.

Over 60 local residents and their families turned up to the Over 50’s Halloween Party at Phoenix Mill, Ancoats . After arriving at 2pm on Friday October 30th all attendees were treated to a spooky sing-along led by Jules Gibb from Band on the Wall with such delights as ‘Thriller’, ‘Bad Moon Rising’ and ‘Them Bones’.

After everyone had settled into the party there was the opportunity to take part in a ghost walk, hear scary stories or get into fancy dress. However, the most popular activity was the Pumpkin Bowling where prizes were given out for most pins knocked over, youngest competitor, most attempts and even lowest score!! The afternoon was then rounded off with a hot pot supper before residents heading home after a thoroughly spooky time!!
