Child benefit

From 2/11/09 all income received from child benefits will not be used toward calculation of housing benefit entitlement. Any tenants already receiving housing benefit who also get child benefit should automatically receive confirmation from Manchester Benefits that their housing benefit will be adjusted accordingly.

However there may be some tenants that were previously not eligible for housing benefit due to the amount of child benefit they were claiming. Although you will NOT receive a letter from Manchester Benefits you may now be entitled to claim from 2/11/09. Failure to act may mean that you are missing out on benefits you are entitled to.
