Ancoats Ward goes Green

During Respect Action Week in June Adactus organised a garden clear up. The event was designed to encourage residents to have a 'spring clean' of their gardens promoting a cleaner, greener estate. This was a huge success and we managed to clear over 10 tonnes of garden waste. This has now been recycled to produce compost. Remember: if you want to make the best use out of your own garden waste then Recycle for Greater Manchester can offer subsidised compost bins for your back garden. These will save you money when you start thinking about next year’s bedding season! If you are interested in a bin call 0845 077 0757. Prices start at £8.00.

This event was the culmination of Respect Action Weeks across Ancoats and Clayton and Bradford wards in June. These weeks were part of a Manchester wide initiative to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and to encourage residents to make the most of the local environment.

We organised a thorough programme of events for each ward including walkabouts with other agencies, safety advice and neighbourhood watch promotions, and evening question and answer drop in sessions. We hope you managed to make it to at least one of them!
